- Richard Bassett who died s.p. in the 10th year of the reign of Henry IV ,leaving his cousins heirs to his extensive estates but the barony appears to have existed with the baron who had been summoned to parliament only.
Burke 1825 (Note. Burke names Ralph as Richard)
Ralph Basset was born circa 1377.1 He was the son of Ralph Basset and Alianore (?).1 He died on 9 January 1399/0, without issue.1
Ralph Basset succeeded to the title of 5th Lord Basset, of Weldon [E., 1299] on 6 June 1385, de jure.1
On his death, any Barony created by the writ of 1299 fell into abeyance between his two great-aunts, Joan and Alianore.2
